Since last December, the Instagram development team had promised to add new parental control features to the popular platform and now we are in the final stretch for their launch, as it started in the US.
The head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri, describes the new options as the first parental control package, which will allow parents to monitor their children’s activity in the service, set time limits for use, as well as receive notifications about “follows” they make, the “followers” they acquire and the reports they send to the service for other users (e.g. in case of verbal violence and / or harassment).
The new parental control functions were announced by “Meta”, because it was in the spotlight due to the effect it has on the psychology of young users. In fact, the company was forced to cancel the project it was preparing on an Instagram for young people under 13 years old. It also launched “pop-up” messages at the time, urging young users to take a break from the service.
According to the “Techgear”, the beginning was made by the USA and the general launch worldwide is expected in the coming weeks.
