Google is not the only tech giant to announce new functions for use in the car, as Apple presented new updates to its devices and “CarPlay”.
Tech companies are constantly introducing new updates with extra features, and beyond the classics we all know, we see a lot of progress in this area.
Apple these days proceeded with new updates for “CarPlay” and at the same time introduced the function “Vehicle Motion Cues” for “iPhone” and “iPad”.
Starting with the latter, “Vehicle Motion Cues” aim to combat motion sickness when moving by car or some other means. As Apple explains, nausea is usually caused by a “clash” of the senses, between what a person sees and what they feel. In such a case, the screen you are looking at is still, while you feel the vehicle moving.
To reduce this effect, “Vehicle Motion Cues” display moving dots at the edges of the screen to indicate when the vehicle is moving. For example, if the driver turns left, the dots will move to the right and vice versa. The same happens when the vehicle accelerates or decelerates, with the dots moving up or down the screen respectively.
Although this feature doesn’t seem that useful and seems to distract the user, some people might appreciate it. Apple also mentioned that “Vehicle Motion Cues” can be set to appear automatically or can be turned on and off through the “Control Center”.
As for “CarPlay”, it gained a variety of new features to access and use, including “Voice Control”. This allows users to use “Navigator” and some other applications with just their voice.
In addition, the new “Sound Recognition” feature aims to help the hearing impaired by displaying visual alerts when the system hears horns or sirens from an emergency vehicle. Finally, “Color Filters” will make using “CarPlay” easier to read and use for people who are color blind.
