Facebook launches Desktop Workplace Chat application

Facebook has launched a desktop chat application for Workplace, the business version of the application that made its debut about a year ago.

Workplace Chat at first supported mobile and browser usage while the new desktop version will offer the same features as the smartphone version, ie video chat, screen sharing, file sharing, etc. In addition, it was announced that in the coming weeks Workplace Chat will support group video chats in both desktop and mobile versions.

As the company has made known, the Workplace platform has managed to attract major organizations such as Walmart, Heineken, Spotify and Lyft in its first year of operation. In total, Workplace serves over 30,000 organizations worldwide, doubling that number over the past six months.

It is worth noting that in this area there is an intense competition these days, with Slack adding lately new features, while Microsoft has upgraded its offering services through the combination of the Teams with the earlier Skype for Business.
