It is very alarming news that wireless connections for residential and business Wi-Fi networks around the world are exposed to attacks by hackers because of a security gap, called Krack.

In short, internet connections over Wi-Fi are no longer safe.
“While the Wi-Fi code was secure, the way encryption via Wi-Fi was done is no longer, because they managed to hack the encryption. So, the Wi-Fi code algorithm has been decrypted and everyone can connect to Wi-Fi with username and password posted on the Internet”,
says the president of the Greek Internet Users, Nikos Vassilakos, speaking at the ANA-MNA.
And he adds:
“In order for someone to protect themselves, they need to update their Android devices and their computer over the internet and install the new software that has developed and protects. That means you have to download the latest android software, Microsoft windows, Mac and IOS. So upgrade the devices to the newer version. In a second phase they must contact their provider and upgrade the firmware, that is their modem. “
If the link gets into the hacker’s target, things are difficult because they are able to read credit card numbers, bank codes, web banking passwords, and various other sensitive data.
“It is very risky, although the bank is fine-tuned because it has special systems installed, so that it can not be connected at the same time, they have also issued pins so that the risk is not so big for bank accounts as for credit cards”,
Mr. Vassilakos stressed out and advises users not to use “stolen” software as they will not be able to upgrade it.
If the users follow the above steps are more protected, but not 100%, ends up Mr. Vasilakos speaking to ANA-MNA.
