Braille transliteration web platform will be launched by China, so that those with visual impairments can read what they want.
China’s Braille Online Platform, developed by a team under Su Wei at Lanzhou University in northwestern Gansu province, will be officially launched on March 22.
With the platform, the users can upload Chinese or English books and texts and after they are transcribed into a braille code, they can read them on a special screen or print them.
Platform research and development work started in 2015.
“This is the first public service of this kind designed for the 17 million people with vision problems in China”,
said Su , noting that the platform uses artificial intelligence and big data technologies.
