Over the past six months, Twitter has announced that it has deleted 299,000 accounts related to terrorism.
Twitter reported that in 75% of cases the accounts were shut down before they sent their first tweets, an item that wants to show that the network has the way to prevent the dissemination of annoying content messages through tweets. During the first six months of the year, Twitter is still the main tool for spreading terrorist messages.
Twitter notes that just 2% of accounts that have been shown to be suspected of spreading terrorist messages have been featured on Twitter by government officials in various countries, as government agencies have filed 716 reports that resulted in the closure of 5,929 accounts.
Through his official blog, Twitter noted that the closed accounts prompted violence, which is related to the work of internationally recognized terrorist organizations, such as ISIS. It is worth noting that governments in the United States, Great Britain and elsewhere have recently been pushing the big cyberspace players, such as Facebook, Google and Twitter, to limit as much as possible the dissemination of messages that reinforce terrorist ideas in from their networks.
