After the “smart” thermostats, the “smart” smoke detectors and the “smart” cameras connected to the internet, Nest Labs has introduced a “smart” door handle that recognizes faces.
The built-in camera switch, as well as Google’s face recognition technology, has been built as yet another “gadget” that can create a greater sense of security to a homeowner by alerting him if an unknown person is approaching home.
Nest, which was acquired by Google in 2014 for $3.2 billion, has been presenting several “smart” products for six years now, but so far has not made it profitable. Now, he ‘bets’ on the construction of the Hello knob, which is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2018, at a price that has not been announced yet.
A few days ago, as the AMP transmits, Apple has introduced a different face recognition system, which has embedded on its new iPhone X mobile phone.
In the future, it is expected that cameras will increasingly recognize people, which has already begun to raise new concerns about personal data breaches.
