Viewing the number of likes on Instagram posts is changing as the popular social media tool looks to make them visible only to the account user.
Specifically, the well-known researcher Jane Manchun Wong has identified the above change in the Android application’s source code, talking about Instagram developer testing before the final change.
As Wong points out, perhaps in some of the future versions of the popular social media, we may not be able to see the number of likes that other people’s photos and videos have received, something that will only be available to the user who has made this post.
The rationale behind this decision is, as announced by Instagram,
“Followers to focus more on what you share than on the likes you have received. During the tests, only the the one who posts something will know the number of likes of his posting. “
