Google blocks crypto-coin ads

Google proceeds to prohibit crypto-coin advertisements on all its online platforms. The ban will take effect in June, without specifying why there will be this delay.

Google has made this decision, according to the BBC, believing that consumers who want to invest in Bitcoin and similar digital coins are not adequately protected.

Google’s move will involve ads in both its search engine as well as on YouTube, and those displayed on other sites through Google’s advertising platform.

As soon as Google’s decision was known, the value of Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other crypto-coins was negatively affected. An analogous Facebook initiative was launched in January, which stated that many crypto-coin companies are acting in bad faith.

Also IMF chief Christine Lagarde had pointed out Tuesday that crypto-coins are being used for money laundering and terrorist financing and warned of the dangers of excessive volatility in their value.
