The European competition authority will impose a fine of more than 1 billion euros on Google, said well-informed sources in the Wall Street Journal.
According to a report in the American newspaper, the European Commission will announce that Google has manipulated search results to promote its own services.
The announcement can be made even on Tuesday.
The fine against Google is expected to be the highest one imposed on a company for abuse of a dominant position.
“We are continuing constructive communication with the European Commission and we firmly believe that our innovations in online shopping are good for consumers, sellers and competition”,
said a spokesman from Google.
The Commission is expected to ask Google to treat equally competitive services such as Foundem and Kelkoo.
