Microsoft Office 365 subscribers can now access basic Office applications in the Microsoft Store.
Now, in Microsoft Store, you can find Word 2016, Excel 2016, PowerPoint 2016, Access 2016, Outlook 2016, and Publisher 2016 as part of the Centennial or Desktop Bridge initiative. Those who have an older version of an Office application installed should uninstall it in order to put one of the new applications in their Windows 10 device. Desktop Bridge applications are not the same as those on the Universal Windows platform.
Initially, Desktop Bridge applications were available in a trial version, and now these applications can be fully used by all registered users of Office 365. According to ZDNet, Microsoft wanted with this move to show that even complex applications of Win32 can go to Microsoft Store with the help of Desktop Bridge. Another goal of Microsoft was to emphasize that at one stage Microsoft Store will become the exclusive destination where one can find applications for his Windows device.
It is expected that more information will be provided about the applications that have been uploaded through Desktop Bridge in the Microsoft Store.
