Google announced that makes available worldwide the new application “Art Selfie”, which analyzes the user’s ‘selfie’ photos and discovers their doubles by searching in thousands of artworks in the collections of museums around the world.

The Art Selfie” app is based on visual computing technology and machine learning.

By taking a “selfie”, the user’s photo is compared with faces depicted in museum art. In a very short time, Google’s artificial intelligence displays the results, as well as a rate that estimates the degree of similarity of the user’s face with each possible “match”.

One can “click” on his “double” portrait to find out more about the artwork. And then perhaps visiting the museum to see from… near his mate!

Google has collaborated with over 650 partner museums around the world.

The Art Selfie app is available from September 4, wherever are available the Google Arts & Culture apps on Android and iOS.
