Apple released several updates for its operating systems on Tuesday (January 28), fixing a critical security flaw that affected all devices.
The update, which was made available for all Apple operating systems, fixed the bug that affected “Core Media”, a component that manages multimedia files on various Apple devices.
The “zero-day” flaw allowed hackers to gain access to user data. However, Apple did not reveal how the data was intercepted or who the targets were.
The bug affected iPhones with software versions earlier than iOS 17.2, which was released in December 2023, and gave hackers “elevated privileges” that allowed them to control various functions of the devices.
To protect your most sensitive data, update your iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, Vision Pro, and/or Apple TV to iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, macOS Sequoia 15.3, watchOS 11.3, visionOS 2.3, and tvOS 18.3 as soon as possible.
