Zoom announced the acquisition of “Kites GmbH (Karlsruhe Information Technology Solutions)”, a startup that focuses on real-time language translation software with AI technology.
Zoom seeks to use this software to facilitate communication between people who speak different languages.
Currently, Zoom supports real-time language translation, however, it is limited only to English speech. Therefore, with the acquisition of “Kites”, as reported by “Techgear”, it will be able to add many translation possibilities to its teleconferencing application, regardless of the language of the speaker.
The company’s president of products and engineering, Velchamy Sankarlingam said:
“We are constantly looking for new ways to deliver happiness to our users and improve the productivity of videoconferencing, and MT (machine translation) solutions will be crucial to strengthening the platform for Zoom users around the world.”
