Apple’s recent ‘Scary Fast’ event ushered in a new era of IT innovation. At the center of the event was the presentation of Apple’s latest “MacBook Pro” laptops and new “iMac” models, which are powered by the formidable “M3” series chips. This consists of the “M3”, “M3 Pro” and “M3 Max”, which offer up to two times faster performance compared to the previous ones.
A technological miracle
We are talking about a technological miracle, as they have an innovative design architecture at 3 nanometers and have been built to offer unprecedented levels of performance, but also to introduce new features to the company’s new computers.
One of their standout features is the upgraded “GPU”, which supports “ray tracing”, “mesh shading” and “Dynamic Caching”, a function that optimizes the use of memory during tasks.
Apple’s ‘M3’ chips offer up to 128 GB of integrated memory, while the flagship ‘M3 Max’ chip pushes the envelope with 92 billion transistors, a 40-core ‘GPU’ and a 16-core ‘CPU’. It supports up to 48 GB of integrated memory and offers high-speed storage options up to 1 TB. In addition, all three chips feature an advanced media engine that provides hardware acceleration for popular video codecs, including “H.264”, “HEVC”, “ProRes” and “ProRes RAW”. In particular, the media engine now supports “AV1” decoding, improving the efficiency of streaming services and extending battery life, with up to 22 hours on the 16-inch “MacBook Pro”.
The new MacBook Pro
The new “MacBook Pro” models, available in 14- and 16-inch versions, utilize the capabilities of the “M3” chips. These laptops have a stunning “Mini LED” display with “Liquid Retina XDR” technology, which has a maximum brightness of 1600 nits. The integration of a “FaceTime HD 1080p” camera and a six-speaker sound system elevates the user experience. With a remarkable battery life of up to 22 hours and the possibility of integrated memory up to 128 GB, these laptops are extremely powerful.
“MacBook Pro” models are available in “Space Black” color, with a special coating that reduces fingerprints, as well as in the classic silver finish. Their cases are made from a custom alloy comprised of 100% recycled aluminum, ensuring durability while prioritizing sustainability.
To cover a wider audience, Apple is also introducing an affordable 14-inch “MacBook Pro” equipped with the basic “M3” chip. This model replaces the 13-inch “MacBook Pro” with the “M2” chip, providing up to 60% higher performance. The “Touch Bar” has been removed in favor of physical keys, while it comes with 8 GB of integrated memory (expandable to 24 GB) and storage options of 512 GB or 1 TB (expandable to 2 TB). The 14-inch “MacBook Pro” is available in silver and “Space Gray”, while “Space Black” is available exclusively for the higher-end models.
