Netflix simplifies its user interface by adding a new sidebar control panel that offers quick access to the right icons.

Redesign reminds you a bit of the YouTube TV user interface as it makes it easier to access objects you previously scrolled to the top to find them. As announced, the sidebar has started to be available to service users around the world.

The Netflix TV interface appears when a user accesses the service using a smart TV, set-top box or streaming through another device. Unlike smaller devices, such as a smartphone, a TV has a large screen area, making it possible to display more information at any time, and may also complicate navigation.

So far, users should scroll to the top of the screen to display a range of tools, such as content research and available accounts. This is obviously not something that can easily be done especially in cases of users who are not used to navigating in similar applications.

The new bar offers instant access to “My List”, where the user can add content to watch it in future time. In addition, the sidebar simplifies the navigation and search of a TV program or movie. Finally, Netflix has added the “New” option to the user interface, providing direct access to new content, while research and settings can also be identified through the new sidebar
