Netflix’s performance during the second quarter of the year exceeded market analysts’ expectations with the addition of 5.2 million subscribers worldwide, reaching 104 million subscribers.
In the US, Netflix now has 50 million active subscribers, while movie and series streaming service expects to see its expansion in the rest of the world from the third quarter’s financial data.
Netflix’s strategy is geared towards boosting its own productions, as it is expected to release at least 40 new films later this year. Netflix is investing heavily in its own content, with investments in this area reaching $6 billion.
Netflix believes it can save the cinema industry, although it can not be said that it will have a positive impact on cinemas.
Forecasts for the future talk about adding 750,000 new subscribers to the US in the third quarter of 2017, while an estimated 3.65 million subscribers to Netflix will be added globally.
It is worth noting that Netflix series and content have been nominated for 91 Emmy Awards.
