Microsoft has decided to stop its music streaming service and intensify its collaboration with Spotify.
It is true that Microsoft’s Groove Music has never been successful and can compete with other music and streaming services, so Microsoft’s decision to stop it is not a big surprise. From December 31, 2017 onwards, Microsoft will permanently stop the Groove Music service offer and invite all users to … move to Spotify.
The Groove music service first made its appearance in 2015 with Microsoft’s Windows 10 presentation offering unlimited music downloading for a monthly fee, while it could connect directly to one user’s OneDrive account. The audience did not seem willing to choose Microsoft’s service and so the company came to the decision to collaborate with the world’s most popular music streaming service, Spotify, for the musical needs of Windows 10 operating system owners.
For those who already have a Groove Music Pass subscription, Microsoft will offer all the tools to transfer all their listings directly to Spotify.
