High capacity micro SD cards may not be affordable, but they indicate the direction that mobile storage will take.
The first model to offer this impressive capacity is the Extreme microSD UHS-I Card from SanDisk, which had made its first appearance at the past Mobile World Congress, but is now officially starting its shopping streak on the markets. This model is not available at an affordable price, as in the US market one has to pay $450 to buy it. There are, of course, even smaller capacities, such as the 512 GB capacity that costs $200 and the microSD with a capacity of 400 GB, which can be obtained by paying only $90.
The performance of the 1 TB microSD card is high, as SanDisk notes that the card read speed is 90 MB / s, and the write speed is 60 MB / s. These are not the higher speeds you find on the market, but they perform with ease the increased workload that takes up such a high capacity memory.
It is worth noting, however, that SanDisk has already announced the release of a card belonging to the Extreme Pro family, with a read speed of 170 MB / s and a write speed of 90 MB / s. In this case, however, no reference is made to the capacities with which the model will be placed on the market, nor when it will become available on the market.
SanDisk recommends the use of high-capacity microSD cards for those who want to record 4K video quality from their Android smartphone and adventure fans who want to shoot high-quality video with an action camera GoPro.
