Microsoft’s Project Brainwave promises rapid real-time machine learning for Artificial Intelligence.

Microsoft believes that Artificial Intelligence in all its forms, such as a virtual assistant, should respond to the data as they appear in the foreground. For this purpose he develops, within Project Brainwave, his own hardware acceleration platform in the cloud. According to Engadget, Microsoft is using the Intel Stratix 10 chip, which delivers 39.5 teraflops with a delay of less than a millisecond.

The Microsoft AI Cognitive Toolkit works with Intel’s chip to provide flexibility in creating a machine learning system and to achieve high performance that is not limited by the narrow limits of the CPU and GPU of a computing system. Project Brainwave is expected to be part of Azure Cloud Services, aiming to make real-time use of Artificial Intelligence by businesses.

At this stage it becomes clear that competition is being created in the field of Artificial Intelligence that is offered in real-time over the Internet and the cloud. Microsoft obviously wants to lead in this category, as shown by her involvement with Project Brainwave.
