Microsoft has launched the “Mixed Reality headsets” for developers interested in creating content.
The “Mixed Reality headset” is available exclusively online from the “Microsoft Store”, while two helmets are currently available, one from Acer —sold at $299— and one from HP —available at $329.
In terms of technical features, both helmets are identical, with screen resolution of 1440 × 1440 pixels in each eye and operating frequency at 90 Hz. The angle of view in each eye will reach 95 degrees.
In Microsoft’s “enhanced reality helmets”, there is a 3.5 mm plug for headphones and microphone connectivity, and a HDMI and USB 3.0 port can be connected to display real-time content.
The HP model is a bit more expensive than Acer’s, because it has more support on the head of the user.
Soon, the headsets and helmets from other manufacturers such as Lenovo, Asus and Dell will be added to the “Mixed Reality” family.
For the use of “Mixed Reality helmet”, Microsoft recommends connecting to a computer running Windows 10 operating system, Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GTX 980 graphics card and upper, at least 10 GB free hard disk space and at least 16 GB RAM.
