Pilot program that will enable sick students to send in their place a… robot started a short time ago in Japan.
The program is implemented at a school in Kasama city 60 miles north of Tokyo.
The robot with the name ”Ori hime” has a small size and is designed so that it can be placed on an office desk, while on its head a camera is installed with the user being able to remotely control it with the help of a tablet.
The sick students will be able, in fact, not only to attend the course but also to participate in it, as ”Ori hime” can transfer the questions that students will ask via a microphone.
The robot has the ability to rotate its head so that it gives different images from the classroom to the sick student, while it is designed to be able to perform simple gesture of courtesy such as to greet, point and applaud.
