“Bard”, Google’s artificial intelligence “chatbot”, is available in Greece as of today, as part of its further expansion to even more countries.
The goal of “Bard” is to combine the breadth of global knowledge with the power, intelligence and creativity of our great language models.
“It pulls information from the web to provide fresh, high-quality answers”,
notes Google.
«This is an early experiment that allows collaboration with productive artificial intelligence. It can be an outlet for creativity and a base for curiosity»,
Google points out.
As of today, one can interact with “Bard” in more than 40 languages, including Greek. Users also gain access to “Bard” in more regions, including Brazil and across Europe. The company notes that for the expansion it has worked closely with experts, policymakers and regulatory authorities. By making Bard available in more regions and languages over time, it says it will be able to use “Google’s AI Principles” as a guide, incorporate user feedback, and take measures to protect privacy and their data.
More tailored responses
According to Google, three updates are starting to make the “Bard” answers better suited to users’ needs. As the company notes, these are the following items:
Hear the answers: Sometimes hearing something out loud can help you approach your idea in a different way. That’s why, starting today, you can listen to the “Bard’s” answers. This is especially useful if you want to hear the correct pronunciation of a word or listen to a poem, or a script. Simply type a message and select the sound icon to hear the “Bard”’s responses. This feature is now available in more than 40 languages, and will soon be available in Greek as well.
Easily customize “Bard” responses: You can change the tone and style of “Bard” responses to five different options: “simple”, “long”, “short”, “professional”, or “informal”. For example, you can ask “Bard” to help you write an ad for a “vintage” armchair, and then narrow down the answer using the drop-down list. This feature is available in English and will be extended to new languages soon.
How to increase productivity
Today also launches three new features in “Bard” to help users do more. In detail, according to Google:
Pin, organize and modify conversations: If one wants to review the instructions, they can pin and rename their conversations with “Bard”. Now when you start a conversation, you’ll see options for: “pin”, “rename” and “get recent conversations” in the sidebar. For example, if you ask the “Bard” to think of ways to help you compare outdoor sports for the summer, you can revisit those tips later. This feature is now available in more than 40 languages.
Export code to more places: Given the interest in programming tasks, a new feature is added that allows you to export “Python” code to “Replit” in addition to “Google Colab”. This feature is now available in more than 40 languages.
Share replies with friends: Also made it easier to share part or all of the “Bard” conversation with the user’s network. With shared links, you can share your ideas and creations with others. This feature is available in more than 40 languages.
Use images: Images are a big part of how we use our imaginations, notes Google. At I/O the integration of “Google Lens” into “Bard” was announced. Whether you want more information about an image or need inspiration for a caption or note on an image —like thanking someone for a gift— you can now upload images with instructions and “Bard” will analyze them to help you. This feature is currently available in English and will be expanded to more languages soon.
