WordPad was included in Microsoft’s Windows suite for the first time in 1995. Essentially, the application was something between Notepad and Word, that is, it was a word processor, providing mostly simple functions, leaving the sophisticated ones for Word.

After 30 years, however, it’s time to say goodbye.

With the new version of Windows 11, it will be removed forever.

Goodbye WordPad, we’ll miss you.

In a post on “X” (formerly Twitter), an account that updates with news and rumors about the world of Windows, he wrote:

“You won’t be able to use WordPad in the future version of Windows 11, as Microsoft plans to remove the app soon.”

In September 2023, Microsoft already warned that these would be the last days of the beloved program, and now we have reached that point. The removal of WordPad, however, did not go quietly. There are many professionals who still use it, for example, for “.rtf” files, which are quite “lighter”.
